A Brief History Of Blandford Stakes
The Blandford Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race for three-year-old and above thoroughbred fillies and mares run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at the Curragh in September.

The race was restricted to fillies and mares only from 2001, prior to which colts and geldings were also eligible to run. The present race distance also dates back to 2001 - it had been 1 mile 3 furlongs (2,213 metres) since 1994, before which it was 1 mile 4 furlongs (2,414 metres).
