York Racecourse
A Brief History Of York Stakes
The York Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs and 88 yards (2,092 metres) at York Racecourse in late July.

The race was introduced in 2006 to replace the discontinued Scottish Derby, and is seen as a possible trial race for the Group 1 International Stakes in mid August, which takes place over the same course and distance. SkyBet sponsors the race.
