Welcome To Limerick Racecourse Ireland’s first new Racecourse for over fifty years, Greenmount Park opened its doors in October 2001 to over 18,000 on its inaugural raceday. The seventh location for Limerick races since 1790, following Bruff, Rathkeale, Newcastle, Lemonfield, Ballinacurra and Green Park, the track is built on a 400-acre site of an old stud farm on the outskirts of Limerick City, and is home to Grade 1 National Hunt and Flat racing all year round. The Oval Track is right handed, 1 mile and 3 furlongs long on the outside and at 70 metres across at its widest point, can provide fresh ground for most meetings. Having completed 15 days racing in its first year, the fixtures are set to increase in number and quality, as Limerick develops its programme of Grade 1 fixtures. The view of the racetrack and the man-made lake in the inner area is spectacular and greatly enhances the vista. The fixture list for 2003 is for 17 days racing the highlight of which will be the Munster National in October and 4 day Christmas Festival. |
