Welcome To Listowel Racecourse Racing commenced at Listowel in 1858. The races were held previously at Ballyeagh, near Ballybunion, but due to faction fighting they had to be moved and Listowel was chosen as the new venue. Due to the popularity of races, known originally as the North Kerry Hunt Steeplechase, the meeting was extended from the original one day event until it became a six day fixture in 1992. Listowel Races is one of Ireland’s oldest and most successful racing festivals and is held in the last week of September. In addition there is a 3 day weekend race meeting in April. |

Travel Information Local Transport Links By Road Listowel is 16 miles from Tralee and 50 miles from Limerick. The course is situated five minutes from the town centre. Public Transport Regular train services from Dublin. Special bus services are provided daily from Tralee and Limerick railway stations to Listowel during the festival meeting.
