Welcome To Roscommon Racecourse Roscommon racecourse is steeped in National Hunt tradition. The first ever recorded race meeting took place in 1837 and was organised by the British military which then had a base in the town. Racing proper began in 1885 and has continued ever since, with the exception of a 12 year period from 1936 to 1948.
